When he issued the COA on this Kirk, even Jerry Dickey remarked that it showed exceptional knapping--takes a lot to impress someone who sees countless pieces of flint on a daily basis--I have to agree with him, flintknapping artistry from the Early Archaic Culture of 7500BP. History: the point is out of Simpson County, Kentucky, the finder reported. I'll try to get my camera to highlight those incredible flake scars, some being lateral, some being oblique flaked. One note--the base on the piece is well ground, so I suspect the point (hafted knife) was sliding between Lost Lake and Kirk--a transitional style. Best for the Thanksgiving holiday !
