This is a pair of Hemisphere tools found along the Ohio River in Southern Indiana. Hemispheres differ from Cones in that they are more rounded on top and highly polished on the bottom. This use portion of this object was obviously the highly polished flat surface suggesting that the top hemisphere portion was shaped to fit smoothly in the palm of the hand where pressure could then be applied to the flat bottom surface. A possible use for these is the manual softening of hides used for clothing. Regardless of usage, every collector needs an example of this unique artifact in their collection to make it complete.
