This semi-transparent Knife River Flint Besant point was found in Morton Co., North Dakota near the town of Mandan. It is a very well-flaked and symmetrical example of its type.
Knife River Flint is one of the most desirable flint types for artifact collectors. Much in the way wood is petrified by being replaced with silica, coal seams in the Dakotas were petrified and replaced with quartzose materials forming Knife River Flint.
