Natural Authentic Columbia Plateau projectile point. (Arrowhead) Found on the banks of the Columbia River, near the present day Dalles Dam, near the Oregon town of the The Dalles, Oregon. Found on the Washington State, side of the Columbia River, near Horse Thief State Park and covered by the waters of the Dalles Dam Reservoir. The material is Columbia Plateau, Petrified Wood in an orange and creamy yellow plus some whites. Petrified Wood that has agatized form are very common in that area, from the Miocene, Volcanic, Geological era of the past 25 to 20 million years. Grading on this point is an 8.7. No flat spots on both side and no curves. Wonderful, point will look perfect in your frame. The Age and type of point by using professional standards is from the Professional classifications of about 200 before present, (BP). Age is about 200 years to 700 years BP. Classification, is Columbia Plateau Phase III. Plateau type, very late to contact with Euro-American type of point. Nore# this is not a Rabbit Island type of point. Rabbit Island points are Darts, used in large game hunting. This small point was used in a two piece arrow. Most are no more than 700 years old.
