A cast of an authentic Clovis point from Linn County, Iowa. Dating to the Paleoindian period at around 12 to 13,000 years ago, the culture using this point was spread all through North America. Large Clovis points like this one often show usewear indicating they were used as a knives as well. At 108mm long and 34mm wide, it is large and well flaked and an excellent example of the classic type. Original made in Hixton Quartzite or a Kaolin flint, it shows signs of resharpening after it had some use. (COA Perino 2001) Ex. Scott collection.
