This 3&9/16" by 1&11/16", 5/16" thick Adena blade comes off the Ohio River in either Spencer or Perry County, Indiana--it could be from the stretch of beach I used to walk, I know there were Bi-points found there before the river eroded most of the midden. This blade shows a bit of cherty cortex on one end, looks like the Adena knapper made a "V" cut to sharp-point the end--photos should show that twin-flake-removal technique. There was a fault line--a 'fracture plane' in the cortex, so he was lucky the whole cortex area didn't break away--or freeze-thaw moisture didn't pop that area free. The 2,000 year old patina is excellent, the Harrison County, Indiana, Hornstone is a higher grade of that flint, blue bandings running top-to-bottom. Every detail is guaranteed authentic.
