The pair, part of a Perry County, Indiana, collectors' large Ohio River-found collection have been in my frames for quite a few years--whether he flund them on the Indiana side of the stream or over in Meade/ Breckinridge County, Kentucky is unknown--he'd found so many Hopewell types along the beaches I doubt he could have told me. Good points, both made of the type Hornstone out of Harrison County, IN, creeks: 2&1/2" and 2&1/8" respectively. With there being so many variations in the bases the Hopewell made, these are but two of them--the flared base, though, does resemble the bases on the later period Lowe and Bakers Creek types. One note: as these are river finds you might notice the patina is slightly different (than field finds)--on these "lithic workstations" you'd have a midden of village debris, recently made points, broken hammerstones (for cracking open nodules of flint)--dinner remains, campfire carbon, etc...the points that were made for transport back to a "home village" could get lost in the sand, be covered up for a couple thousand years before the river once again washed them out of the bank. Because they were lost in 'almost new' condition "river's edge" finds have their own patina--but are 100% guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $9.00, checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
