Yeah, I hear you...it happens--but this is how the piece came to me--Decatur, Illinois, area, Crescent Quarry Chert. The small collection was in an padded case electronic 'gadget box'--or maybe it was a pistol clamshell box. Sorting through the material a couple years back first the tip, then the base went through my hands--instant recognition--the pieces fit perfectly.. You can see that all but one flake was there, so the 4&1/4"--4&5/16" blade will glue back together. Super flaking, flint toning (patina)--restore the piece or leave it as-is, that's your choice. Is the piece Adena Culture, or something much earlier--flaking would say "earlier" as would the 3/8" thickness--Adena liking more of a 'teardrop' shape, and very thin blades--I still suspect it's the work of an outstanding Adena knapper. The price reflects the new (maybe right before I got it) damage--you sure couldn't buy so nice a blade for $31 and $9.00 shipping otherwise. That said, I welcome checks, cash, or M.O.s, however I do not use paylay-type services--Roy A.
