81573--Finely made wide Robbins Adena, KY

Using a string of 'colorful' adjectives 'ain't my style', but for a point with so wide (and well made) of a blade, I might revisit that decision. The estate sale listed the piece as being found in the Pulaski County, Kentucky, area. Call it Ft. Payne Chert or Muldrough Chert--or even a mottled form of Hornstone, any of the three could be correct, and I guess it depends on which 'expert' you talk to that day...and their impression THAT day. Sometimes, with flint identification, your opinion can (to use a Jerry Dickey phrase I've heard soooo often) "Well, it could be...". Here are the stats, they're facts: length is slightly under 2&3/4"; width is a GREAT 1&7/16" (slightly over that mark, actually), and thickness tops at 3/8" in the blade center on a slight stack in the flint. The tip has the very feint trace of an Adena Period-made impact fracture--and with this comparatively wide blade--the length was nearly double as-first-made--this was one BIG knife. There is almost nothing I'd describe as 'damage', the condition, the patination, they're excellent. Guaranteed authentic so long as I'm alive. Shipping is $9.00 (due to the latest USPS rate increase). I welcome cash, checks, or M.O.s, but I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
