This is a very rare wooden Atlatl throwing stick that was found on St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. The piece is extremely well made with an ivory hook inserted on the back end of the throwing stick. The front of the Atlatl has a carved hole for inserting the index finger and carved indentations for the remaining fingers of the throwing hand. The body of the throwing stick has a groove for holding the spear/dart. (See photos).
