This polished Bone Awl is made from a metacarpal bone of a deer. It is almost 8" long and was found in Val Verde Co., Texas. Bone pieces of this length and quality are rare. There appear to be 4 small tally marks toward the tip of the awl on the back side. This awl, along with the translucent one just listed, were the 2 best from a collection of 28 bone awls found in Val Verde County.
