MASSIVE Largest Known Flint Blade found in the state of Arkansas. This huge blade was found in central Arkansas by Thomas Theodore Souter. This is a very rare 15 3/8” Duck River Sword that is made from a tabular Dover chert that originated from Tennessee. It is believed that this sword would have been traded through the Spiro Mounds culture in Oklahoma along the modern day Arkansas line during the Mississippian period (A.D.1000- A.D.1200) There are only 2 of these blades known that were found in the state of Arkansas with this being the largest. (Note)(Gregory Perino wrote several articles about the only other one that I am aware of. It measured around 12 5/8” in length and was found by Mike Arnold in central Arkansas.) Super rare type for the area!
