Brother and Sister Coastal Tortugas
These two Tortugas made from Petrified Wood, were found in the same exact location, on the same shell midden, about a week apart. These are personal finds by me.
These points are from Smith Point, which is about 20 miles south of Anahuac, Texas which is in Historic Chambers County.
The probable inhabitants of that particular shell midden were Orcokisac people, which dominated the upper coast of Texas from the Trinity River into Louisiana, while extending no more than 10 to 15 miles inland from the coast.
The petrified wood used for the points was probably traded in from the East Texas Piney Woods which has an abundance of petrified wood cobbles in the sandy soil.
