A small Decatur, Illinois, area auction a few years back, they had some neat, authentic, points, blades, and flint tools. These three have stayed with me for some reason--longest is the heat-treated Burlington Chert bi-pointed blade/ digger/ knife, 4&1/4"--strong medial ridge, it's 3/4" thick. They weren't going to break this one very easily. The stemmed point is Late Archaic, 4&1/8", also Burlington Chert, but not much--if any--heat treating--converted from a knife into a giant Hafted Scraper. The last knife is 3&7/8", slightly (semi) curved, uniface--my favorite of the three, it really fits in your hand, you can feel how they used the knife. Are they thin, expertly knapped blades--come on, they're everyday tools, pieces needed for family survival. Respect them for that, I think. I'll pay the shipping cost--which I expect will be $10--$12 with the postal service's new rates as of 7-12-26. I welcome checks, cash, or M.O.s, but do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
