Quite frankly I've seen quite a number of the twin-headed Mauls, but not a double bit hardstone (granite) Axe. The flute at the top would indicate Mid Archaic Culture--that was their trait. The plow scratch shows the piece was a field find, Coles (or area) County Illinois. The corner of one end was anciently salvaged--it's ground smooth. The opposite end has an excellent bit, somewhat polished, but not glossy--the only area ground to a polish is the center groove, although the fluted top is getting there; heavily ground. Length is 4&5/8",3&3/4" max 'height', and thickness that tops out at 1&1/2". The patination is lifetime guaranteed authentic .Shipping is by Priority Mail--$10.00 I welcome checks and money orders, however I don't use paypal--Roy A.
