At 3&7/8" by 1&5/16" the Adena qualifies as a pretty good sized hafted knife--small base, so getting the most out of the blade edge was the Woodland makers' first thought. One note--that one shoulder never was there, the flint shows a flat plane that was part of the layer chert they worked--the chert itself is very similar to Mill Creek Chert, the layer material shows a lot of fossil inclusion, so it it isn't Mill Creek, it's a 'cousin' to that material. The piece is from one side of the Mississippi river or other--Mill Creek being from Illinois, I'll work with the assumption that the find came from along the bluffs on the Illinois side. The piece is 100% real in all detail. Shipping is $6.00, checks, cash, or M.O.s are welcomed, but paypal is not taken--Roy A.
