70076--Illinois Celt, decent piece
There is so much patina, identifying the stone itself is tough--Greenstone, as best I can tell. Length is 4" by 1&15/16", only 13/16" max thickness. Being out of the Collinsville, Illinois, area I'm going to make a wild guess and classify the piece as Mississippian Culture-kind of an easy guess as Cahokia is right there. At least two old labels were once on the piece with provenance, but those were peeled before I got the Celt--thanks to whomever thought that was a 'help'. The bit is excellent, the only damage is a rough spot behind the bit on the top edge--doesn't detract much from the quality of this piece. Guaranteed authentic, period.
