A piece of Hornstone with a 'stack' the Paleo knapper couldn't remove--not without risking breaking the lance tip. Lateral grinding, basal grinding, they're there, they're heavy, but the best the knapper could do was remove a basal flake--a thinning flake much like a flute, to haft the lance tip. Sometimes the stone dictated what could be done, it'd seem, and the knapper had already invested enough time, he wasn't risking the whole blade to remove that stack. Out of McLean County, Kentucky, area, ex Dr. Skaggs collection--and my personal collection for the last four years, the piece measures 2&3/8" by 15/16". Measured on the stack 5/16" max thickness--1/4" thickness most other areas--very thin at the tip. The flint is very patinated, lifetime guaranteed authentic. Shipping comes with the price, checks or M.O.s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
