A friend swears he can distinguish the Lowe point from the Bakers Creek by the angle of the stem; the sides make a 'pyramid' and the stem sides apex in the center of the point (on one type)--the other does not. Remembering his formula, well,.. Late Hopewell, in either case, the period where dart points were being replaced by the first true 'arrowheads'. Both types are very thin, and the base is usually ground (this one is edge ground). Made of Hornstone, a very high grade of Hornstone1&11/16" by 7/8" by 3/16" max thickness. The tip shows considerable sharpening during its work life. Bill Pesch stenciled his catalog number on the base, but didn't note if the piece was from Indiana, Kentucky, or possibly from his home area of Fayette County, Illinois. The type hornstone is more what would turn up on Ohio River sites in Harrison County, Indiana--where it was taken to a village site, it could be any of the three states mentioned. It's real, period. Shipping comes with the price, checks, cash, or M.O>s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
