Shipping comes with the list price on this St. Claire County, Illinois, Decatur. The Early Archaic knapper intended (I think ) for the base to be a "Fractured Base Type", but an errant basal chip, one that didn't quite work out as planned, took off slightly more of the Burlington Chert than planned--it (the base) was super well ground to smooth out any hafting problems, it worked for them. Obviously so as the blade edges show considerable bevel sharpening. That alone tells you knife head stayed in service over many sharpen and use cycles. One corner of the base was nicked in that extensive use, and there is a small chip to the barb end above that basal corner. The tip is actually intact, what at first looks like a ding shows mineral deposits--looks like it saw use as a buffing tip. The history of the piece will go along with it when shipped, provenance matters. I welcome checks or M.O.s, however I do not use paypal--Roy A.
