I left the cotton backing that shows how the piece had been displayed--it's easily soaked & removed, but it shows how the finder, Knox County, Kentucky, displayed the find. Nice piece, great corner notching...and like most Kirks, very little basal grinding. Note on that basal edge, though, there is some edge-fracturing that looks more like Decatur basal fracturing--ground on that corner of the base, too, just like a Decatur Culture knapper would fashion one. When your hands, then your eyes pick up something slightly unusual, it catches your interest. It should--neat feature. The Kirk is a weathered hornstone, slightly over 1&5/8" by not quite 7/8", and slightly over 1/8" max thickness--or is that thinness--it does have a barb that's anciently nicked, the only damage. Patinated, guaranteed authentic for life. Shipping is $6.00 with checks, cash, or M.O.s welcomed. I don't use paypal, though--Roy A.
