A creek find from several years back--how long the finder had it before I purchased the piece, that I don't know, but it came from the Cadiz, Kentucky, area, Trigg County--the flint has the clear look of the type hornstone found in that area, still has dirt in the crevices of the heavily patinated flint. Length is an excellent 3&13/16" by almost 1&3/16". The center thickness is 3/8", but really thins to tip and especially the thin base. The Buck Creek knapper got as much length as possible from the starting flint flake, and to compensate for that thin base there were slight hafting indentions above the barb area--that little dip-in was to tie the piece on securely so the thin stem didn't snap. Note the tip is slightly 'hooked', likely that followed the natural lines of the starting flake, too--they worked with the flint they had, but it's sort of twisted into a hook shape. Nice piece, nicely patinated, REAL. Shipping is $5.00, checks or M.O.s are welcomed, but paypal is not taken--Roy A.
