Price includes shipping on this Henderson County, Kentucky, Dalton Greenbrier. The hornstone is a high grade of out Hoosier Harrison County flint, measures 1&3/4" by 7/8"--doesn't quite reach even 1/4" max thickness. The base is ground, and as one side of the flared stem will show, the Early Archaic Dalton Culture knapper fought with a 'stack' in the flint--the base is much thicker on one side than the other--he compensated by grinding the base more on that thicker side. It worked. Note the tip in the close up photo--the early maker-user was buffing some surface with the tip, it isn't broken, but wear and use polish (easily felt on that one face) mad a shine to the flint. That's a very small scraping tip, so figuring out the use has always puzzled me. It's guaranteed ancient, though. The find has spent years in my collection, so I hope the next owner will appreciate the piece in their collection. I welcome checks or M.O.s, but don't take paypal--Roy A.
