Offered for sale is a hard stone paint pot & fossil pestle, highly used and very old the bowl is highly used from grinding. I purchased this from an elderly woman named Barbara (Barb) Lockaby from Bernstadt, Kentucky. She said, “IT IS VERY RARE BECAUSE IT IS A a highly worn PAINT POT, , along with a fossil pestle, the pestle is a beautiful stone that just fits the paint pot. Many seeds, nuts and making paint for art work on cave walls and many other uses, I have no doubt that is one was used as a grinding stone because of the wear, it is most interesting, a certain conversation piece. I put a long pestle with it, if used as a grinding stone it would have looked like this, this is one artifact that you must have. The two come as a set, hard to believe but preserved through the ages. they measure; the paint pot is 6" by 5"across by 11/4 " thick, made of hard stone, the pestle is 2 1/2" across , well now, you can see a very nice set , rare and a great addition to your collection These are guaranteed authentic for life, I found them while surface hunting on my own private property in South Eastern Kentucky., no caves, graves or any sacred sites disturbed.”

Barb said, “All of my items come from the area of Laurel County and Rockcastle County in Kentucky. The area is close to the original Wilderness Road, Boone's Trace and Scaggs Trace, all of these trails were early pathways into what then was the western United States after the Revolutionary War. The Wilderness Road that came from Cumberland Gap into this Area was a buffalo trace and was worn 12 ft. deep from the thousands of years of animal travel, the Native Americans used these as their pathways as well, they were at times used as a warriors' path. The worst Indian massacre that took place in Kentucky happened on the Boone’s Trace at Levi Jackson State Park, interesting to study about. A section of the old Wilderness road is about 1/2 mile from my home at this time.”

I offer 30 day returns with no questions asked as long as the artifact is in the same condition as shipped; you pay for the return shipping. Please message me with any questions you may have. I will combine shipping with other items purchased the same day of each other....... just message me before you pay for multiple items. Thanks for looking!
