67978--Long, lean Mississippian Era Celt, Illinois
Priority Mail included with the price on this Union County, Illinois collection Celt--Mississippian Culture, that long (4&9/16" by 1&3/4", 1&7/16" thick) narrow celt form--Woodland celts, they had very different shapes. This collection had a number of Mississippian artifacts, celts, sspades, notched hoes, but oddly, not many triangle points--maybe the family kept that part of the fathers' collection. The hardstone is as close to a Porphry as anything, the quartz inclusions are everywhere--heavy for its size--the bit isn't sharp, but is in excellent condition. Some grinding (polish) to the bit area, but the maker didn't extend the polish very far back from the bit itself. Every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic. Checks are always welcomed--Roy A.
