A Jersey County, Illinois, find, a finely made flint Adz,5" by 2", and max thickness of 15/16". Stored away after it was found, the Adz still has the field dirt on it. The piece is in the Kaolin or Avon Chert family, both chert types found in western Illinois--judging by the orange cortex seen on one face I'd think the material is Kaolin, but that's only one measure, the off-white color ans some mottling may also indicate Avon--check out Illinois Lithic Materials website, sometimes the more you study the less certain you are. A fine, 100% lifetime guaranteed authentic artifact, though, one of the best beveled Adz bits I've seen. Shipping is $8.00, checks are ALWAYS welcomed--Roy A.
