Out of a Webster County, Kentucky, collection, most of the points being creek-found, at least the ones I saw, this hornstone Kirk Cornernotch measures 2&9/16" by 1&9/16", and only 1/4 inch thickness at the very thickest spot my caliper can find. The C.N. started from one super thin preform--hardly any resharpening as the blade edges feather-out to thin, thin cutting edges. The piece has a few small use-made dings, a basal corner with a flat end, a pair of blade edge chips from use (these are both damage, and patinated Early Archaic-made dings)--and a start of a shaft scraper indention. That curve-in shows super small pressure chips, so it was definitely intentional--just hadn't been used much before the piece was lost. Some of the finest Early Archaic pressure flaking a collector could ask for, fine, lifetime guaranteed authentic patination. Shipping is $4.00 with checks much appreciated--Roy A.
