The flaking on this Spencer County, Indiana "tool" is Woodland Adena Culture, but figuring out just what the purpose was is anyone's guess. Both ends look like they were made for hafting, it's almost like what a hand-crafter would use as a 'draw knife'--maybe so, There are a few small spots of modern damage--or possibly later culture usage; there at the widest part of the mid section there are edge flakes on one side that are not as patinated as the rest of the piece...yet they're definitely not modern chips, they have patina. Too, on the more narrow end there is very, very heavy use polish (scraper end?)--something very similar in terms of use polish on the wider end. Pieces like this, they teach you more than any G-10 perfect point. There are still a couple spots of glue from the way the finder displayed the piece--they'll clean off without much difficulty. Neat tool, guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $4.00 with checks much appreciated--Roy A.
