A Spencer County, Indiana, find, this hornstone Morrow Mountain is just over 3&5/8" by 1&9/16", and nearly 1/2" thick. For a reason I've never heard explained the ancient "Crib Mound" was a population center for Morrow Mountain peoples--what was a more southern point style was made and used on the shores of the Ohio river--they used local Harrison county, Indiana, hornstone, so these were not points that came in by trading networks--the style undoubtedly did, but the points themselves were made here in southwest Indiana. There is slight wear to the blade, but no outright damage to detail. The base (stem) was Middle Archaic knapped out to the very edge of the starting hornstone biface (I assume a biface preform as both faces are cambered, one is not flat or semi-curved as a flint flake would be. Patina is excellent, every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $4.00 with checks much appreciated--Roy A.
