How large was this Late Archaic period Turkey Tail before the blade was snapped? LARGE--caliper still reads just over 2&7/8" by a wide 1&9/16", and the blade is thick enough to support a large-size blade, a full 1/2". Being a hafted knife the ancient hunter had one good cutting edge to work with--if the other edge was rough due to fracture planes in the hornstone they found a way to make the piece work with only one cutting edge. The Turkey Tail stem is actually proportionally thin and well formed, classic bevel-cut edges. The find comes out of the Spencer County--Perry County, Indiana, area, and is 100% lifetime guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $4.00, checks or M.O.s welcomed--Roy A.
