Where I'd usually start off giving the length and width, this Kirk Cornernotch has its own voice--thinness is by far its best feature--my caliper fractionally goes above 1/4" at the thickest spot between the deep notches. That's a remarkably thinned preform, and the sure sign of an Early Archaic knapper at their best. Length is just under 2&5/8", width is just under 1&5/8". The piece comes from a Webster County, Kentucky, auction. Many of the pieces received from that sale were creek finds, but this hornstone beauty doesn't have a creek-type patina--it IS very evenly patinated and lifetime guaranteed authentic, though. The pics should show there were a few minor ancient blade "touch ups", and a stem corner ding, the minor imperfections just being part of its history. You hold the artifact, one thought will hit you--"Man this is thin"--NEAT piece. Shipping is $4.00, checks or M.O.s each receive day-after-receipt shipping--Roy A.
