My friend Roger a world traveler says, "These are typical of the barbed hunting spears used by the Nilotic people of Southern Sudan. Principally the Dinka tribe, but there were around 25 other groups in the same area. They didn't make their own spears (of this type)... they obtained them by trade with the Jur Lao people and also used inferior "copies" produced by Arab smiths at Omdurman.
The Dinka word for spear is "tong", usually followed by a word that describes the shape.
Probably Made in the early 1800's."
